THE INSIDER

Tripod has a new cousin! This week, Lycos Williamstown unveiled its latest creation — a terrific new site called htmlGEAR. It's the premier Web destination for builders seeking add-on tools that will spice up any site! With FREE gadgets like pollGEAR, guestGEAR, and linkGEAR, you can ask your readers questions, get visitor feedback with a guestbook, and manage your site's links. And that's not all! Visit htmlGEAR.com today!

We're sensing a trend here. This week, Karen Langlie, wife of talented designer Mike Langlie, started working in Tripod's membership department. This, just one week after Lisa Clark, wife of Brand Manager Steve Clark, began working at Tripod. We'd like to welcome them both! I'm wondering if these couples are going to get sick of their significant others now that they'll be seeing so much of each other! Lisa and Steve should do fine — they're newlyweds. And I suspect Mike and Karen will be psyched to see more of each other: Mike has a habit of spending way too much time in the office! A similar setup seems to have worked just fine for our two resident married couples, Don and Susan and Jaime and John. Margaret and former Tripodian David also got along well at work when they were both here; David left Tripod so he could take care of their son, Charlie. I'll keep you posted with any marital updates!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to bid farewell to the folks downstairs, who are leaving the building on Friday. The cable factory that occupies the two floors below us is relocating to Pennsylvania. We wish them all luck.

Q: What are the newsletters that Tripod sends out?
A: Tripod has two main newsletters, and you can subscribe to each one when you sign up for your membership. The Tripod Insider (the amazing publication you're reading right now) is a weekly newsletter that gives the 411 on happenings at Tripod. Tripod Handcrafted is a biweekly newsletter written by various tech and HTML gurus, designed to provide advanced lessons on page building and coding. Sometimes Tripod will send out e-mail regarding important changes to our programs and policies. Don't worry — such mass mailings are rare, and only occur when absolutely necessary.
