If you haven't heard already, I'm glad I'm the one telling you. The
Williamstown Lycos offices will be relocated to the Waltham headquarters
within the next 60 days. The move makes a lot of sense to the business-types, but it's still hard to believe that the Billsville era is over
for all Tripodians. Each and every employee here has been offered a
job in Waltham, and the overall look and feel of the Tripod site will
remain the same, so don't worry! We'll just be giving you gossip from
the Waltham offices. There are over 500 people at Lycos; there's got
to be some good stuff to talk about!
So you all know the adage "April showers bring May flowers," right?
Well, what do you think April snow brings? It's been 30 degrees and
snowing here for the past two days. The daffodils are mighty confused,
not to mention the mountain bikers and hikers. There's more snow to come
this weekend, too. This is what we Tripodians suffer through in exchange
for the gorgeous summers!
I wanted to end this section on a good note. There have been a few dogs
around the office this past month, and it's a good thing. They do a great
job of making people happy while they're dealing with the fact that they
might not have a job in two months. Lycos did offer every person here a
job in Waltham, but leaving the Berkshires is not in the future for some
people here. Puppies make dealing with reality a little bit easier.
