THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Diva's Desk Mate

The Diva is halfway around the world enjoying a long overdue vacation in Japan. I've checked my mail all week long, and still no postcard from the her. Oh, well. She's probably too busy stuffing herself with sushi and contemplating, in Zen-like fashion, the nature of human existence. As the Diva's desk mate and editorial cohort, I have to say it's been quite dull without the Diva dishing all this week! Also, I miss the never-ending supply of chocolate morsels, which she graciously doles out whenever I need a fix. (I'm suffering serious withdrawal here.)

Meanwhile, the Tripod crew is preparing to lighten their load before moving east. Maggie and Megan have started organizing a giant parking lot sale. Maggie took an office poll (online of course), and the date was chosen — Saturday, May 27th, rain or shine. We'll have the sale in our Billsville parking lot. (The loading dock will be put to use if it rains.) Tripod staffers will be selling whatever they don't want to haul to Waltham. Hmnn. This could be interesting. Tripodians collect the strangest things.

Speaking of collecting things, Lisa Clark recently found herself the beneficiary of a cute cottage; that is, a little thatched-roof birdhouse. Tripod member Frank McCarthy of Perkins, Georgia, sent it to thank her for answering a question he had. Some cute little bird will really appreciate it!

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: Should I make backups of my files?
A: Absolutely. Losing your work is very discouraging, and unfortunately, it's easy to do. If you keep backups of all your files on your home computer, you will never have to worry about losing a file or making a mistake that destroys hours of hard work. If you know how to use an FTP client, then by all means use it after each major edit of your site. Store recent copies of your files in a place where they will not be lost or damaged.
