THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Diva's Desk Mate

Spring is in the air, and that leads inevitably to - you guessed it - spring-cleaning. We are all going through our drawers and closets, scrounging up stuff for the giant tag sale May 27. And let me tell you, it's not a pretty sight. In fact — it's shocking! Abuse man Neil Bibbins has been furtively harboring a vast collection of BeeGees albums, along with a complete CD set of "Zamfir, Master of the Pan Flute," and one barely used Deal-a-Meal diet program. He's also hoping to unload quite a number of Smurfs (imagine your cat hacked up a blue hairball), and one perfect copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence People." Neil doesn't need any help in this area. He's already pretty popular.

Carrie Lincourt is reveling in the fruits of her past labors, which include working full-time, driving over to Russell Sage College on nights and weekends for her master's classes, and trying to maintain a successful relationship in between. Well, this week Carrie's life changed dramatically. She finally graduated, getting her MBA from Sage last Sunday. Right after that, Carrie's beau, Bill, popped the question and produced a beautiful Tiffany-set solitaire for her left hand. Then she landed a new, more prestigious job! As you might imagine, she's a little wowed. "I feel older," she says. "Like I've made the jump to serious adulthood!"

And speaking of making jumps, Lycos stock (LCOS) made one shortly after the announcement that Lycos had been bought by Terra Networks, S.A., of Spain. The transaction will create an unparalleled global Internet powerhouse that will be called Terra Lycos, according to Bob Davis. But around here we're more interested in the potential for meetings in Madrid, a corporate-sanctioned daily siesta, and lots of fiestas. Don Zereski is probably concocting a recipe for blue sangria as I write this. (Will Lycos ditch the black lab in favor of a Chihuahua? Only time will tell!)

And last but not least, we're hiring! Yes, that's right, if you want the kind of job where your work is seen by millions, this might be the place for you. There are lots of openings on Tripod, as well as at other network properties like Angelfire and htmlGEAR. Check out the possibilities here.

Interested? Hiring managers will be interviewing for open positions at Lycos' Waltham office on May 23 and 24. Representatives from Tripod, Angelfire and htmlGEAR will be there too, so spruce up your resume and stop on by!

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: Why is case-sensitivity important?
A: All Tripod member names and passwords are case-sensitive. If you try to log in with your member name and password, and you don't type the correct cases, you will receive an error message. This means that if your member name is "MiSteR.JoneZ" and you try to log in using "mister.jonez" it won't work. When choosing your member name, it's a good idea to keep everything lower-case; it's consistent and easy-to-remember.

Case-sensitivity is NOT important, however, in your membership URL. On the Web, your pages will appear at http://armadillo.tripod.com/, OR at http://ArmaDillO.tripod.com/. It makes no difference to your browser.
