THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Diva

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not leaving Tripod quite yet! I wanted to thank those of you who responded to last week's Insider with well-wishings, but I'm not outta here yet! I will be staying with the good ol' 'Pod till early September -- and writing all the while! Come the fall, I'll be heading off to get my masters in Public Health. Until then, you'll have to put up with my antics and anecdotes!

This weekend is a BIG social weekend! Katie has hereby invited us all "to head on over to my new homestead to help me blacken and consume dead animals (or dead veggies, for you liberal commie bleeding hearts, like, well, my husband)." She and her husband live in a huge farmhouse with tons of lawn, just begging to have croquet played on it! Should be a good time. Jesse (aka DJ Deadair) is spinning late Saturday night in North Adams, for those of us that haven't had enough dancing during the day at Katie's.

I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome a new Tripodian -- Todd Kennedy joins us as a Production Engineer. He's working in Williamstown for a few weeks before we takes the trip to Waltham. That way, he'll know his roots! Welcome, Todd!

Here's a tip from those crafty page-building experts at Webmonkey: Think before you frame your pages. Putting your site navigation in a frame can reduce download time, but since the frame doesn't change, it can't be used to orient your visitors. The use of frames also prevents users from bookmarking the various pages on your site. Make sure the trade-offs are worth it.

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: What is the FreeForm Editor?
A: The FreeForm Editor is Tripod's own online HTML-editing tool. There are no restrictive templates in the FreeForm Editor, so you're free to build whatever you want! The FreeForm Editor allows you to copy and paste existing blocks of code as well, so adding guestbooks, counters, and dynamic content is as easy as cutting and pasting.
