I can't escape the Web
(Not even in Maine)
Tripod builders rule
THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Diva
I'm back, and very refreshed from a wonderful vacation in Maine. I
spent most of the week in Brooklin -- no, not Brooklyn. Mainers spell
it their very own way. Brooklin is famous for two things -- wooden
boat building and E.B. White (of "Stuart Little" fame). We actually
drove by White's farm,
and hiked a hill near the fair grounds where Charlotte's Web was set.
Very cool. I even dug up a Tripod page about E.B. White and his illustrious
writing career -- check it out!
I found it pretty amazing that Tripod builders have made even the
most obscure (but important!) information available on the Web. Even the
tiny town I visited on vacation can be found online! The Web couldn't
find me, though. I didn't check my e-mail or surf all week. Although,
I should admit that my friend did use the Web to find a great mountain
bike trail for us to ride in southern Maine.
Alas, the Web is a wonderful tool, and Tripod members contribute so much
to its usefulness by building more and more pages with relevant and helpful
information. Kudos to you! Let's make a deal: You all keep building great
pages, and we'll keep hosting them for free. Sound good?

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded
by our dedicated membership department!
Q: How do I make backup copies of my files?
A: The easiest way to back up your Tripod directory to your computer
is to use a stand-alone FTP program such as CuteFTP. Connect with your
directory via FTP using the ftp.tripod.com address, your member name,
and your password. Your Tripod directory will be displayed in the
right panel. Select all of the files, choose a location on your computer
in which to store them (in the left panel), and click "Download." The
files will then be copied to your local directory. Get a FREE copy of
CuteFTP here: http://www.tripod.com/build/cuteftp/ .
