THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Diva

This Wednesday is tenant appreciation day on Totten Pond Road! Our property managers, Legatt McCall, are throwing us a party! Well actually, it's a BBQ, but it still constitutes a free lunch! This never happened in Williamstown, let me tell you. It'll be another chance for us to mix and mingle with other Lycos people, too. I've never seen so many young professionals in one place!

This week, check out the new Handcrafted newsletter, and discover event handlers -- functions that handle client-side events (like uploading a page, filling out a form, or clicking on a link). Learn about some commonly used JavaScript event handlers, including onClick, onMouseOver, and onLoad. Event handlers let your visitors interact with your site, making it a much more valuable and interesting experience.

The sign read "Tripodians — Treats in the fridge from Sean!" And treats there were. Scrumptious chocolate-chip and cheesecake squares. I know that sounds a little strange — I was skeptical — but, wow, they were awesome. So we're thinking we might need a bake-off here between Sean and Lisa. That'll mean lots more treats and happily fed Tripodians!

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: What is my URL?
A: When you create and save pages in your Tripod directory, they are automatically published to the Web. Each page has an actual address (URL): http://members.tripod.com/your_member_name/page_name.html. Notice that your Tripod member name is part of the URL, and that the file name of the page you want to see always comes last. Pages need to end with either ".html" or ".htm" in order to be read by browsers.

You can also access your pages with a shorter URL. This URL, called a subdomain, looks like this: http://your_member_name.tripod.com/page_name.html. This address is easier to type and looks much more professional. Feel free to use whichever URL you like -- they'll both work just fine.

Be aware that there is no "www" in any Tripod member URL. Your address will never be http://www.your_member_name.tripod.com/. Using a "www" in the URL will prevent your browser from locating your page.
