Change to spare
The Diva departs
Team Harmony heats up
THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru
Faithful readers of The Insider know that change has been the theme of
late. First, the nomadic Tripod tribe moved to its new penthouse digs
on the 7th floor; complete with game room, vertigo-inducing roof deck,
and "ergonomic" (French for "if it hurts when you do that, don't do that!")
work-pods. But that change, no matter how plush the carpeting, was merely
cosmetic compared to the next twist of fate: the departure of Anna, AKA
the Diva.
As editor of The Insider, Anna was the official chronicler of all things
Tripod from the solemn to the silly, since the pioneering days of Williamstown.
It was a wild ride and she covered every mile in style. Alas, the only
constant on this spinning rock we call home is change and the Diva has
moved on to bigger and better things. I'm sure I speak for everyone when
I say she will be missed. And if that's not an understatement, I don't
know what is.
Faced with the prospect of following Anna as the Insider Guru (more on
that subject when we meet again), I sat back with a refreshing beverage
(or three) and sampled a few Insider back issues to glimpse the task at
hand. Yikes. Suffice to say it will not be easy to fill her shoes. Which
is not to say the Diva had big feet. That would be wrong. And I certainly
wouldn't want to begin my first issue that way. Although it now appears I
have . . .whoops.
While there's more to say about the "peaceful and orderly transition of
power," there's bigger news brewing. Namely, the big Team Harmony contest!
As we announced in our last issue, Tripod is facilitating a nation-wide
site building contest to encourage teens to share their views on combating
bigotry and promoting diversity. The response has been great, but time is
running out! The deadline for submissions is November 5th. Winners will
receive cool prizes and there will be a special awards ceremony at the
Fleet Center in Boston. For details, check out our special Team Harmony page.
