THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru

Tripod is back to its accelerated self after last week's post-Thanksgiving weekend haze. But it was touch and go for a while. Everywhere you looked, folks who are usually stuck on fast-forward were shuffling around with a stunned "one pumpkin pie over the line" look on their face. Meanwhile, there was a traffic jam of leftovers inching toward the microwave and the topic of food was a side dish at every meeting.

There was even a contest to determine who witnessed the oddest holiday feast. Lisa was a contender thanks to her brush with Tofurkey, a soy-based bird substitute. I'm not in a hurry to eat Tofurkey, but it sure makes me happy to say it. C'mon, let's all say it together . . . Tofurkey! Some weird foods make me smile -- others make me sleep with the lights on. Take Ames' entry in the extreme eats throwdown: Turducken. What's Turducken? Well, it's (this would be a good time to have the kids leave the room) a turkey that's been stuffed with a duck that's been stuffed with a chicken. Oh my. Stop the voting, we have a winner! No hand recount required.

Speaking of voting . . . Congratulations to the winners of the first annual Team Harmony site building contest! They were announced last night at the star-studded, gala ceremony at Boston's Fleet Center. Celebrity guests included Bob Davis (CEO, Terra Lycos), Mayor Tom Menino, Red Sox slugger Nomar Garciaparra, and a host of national recording artists and surprise guests. Tripod's own "celebrity attendees," Ames, Pete, and Lisa, report that a way-cool time was had by all. A special thanks go out to everyone who submitted their sites for such a worthy cause! Check the winners out!

Please Note: Tripod will no longer offer the Driveway service to our site builders. But don't worry. If you have an existing Driveway account, your files are safe and sound and you'll still be able to access them at Driveway.com. As always, we recommend that you back up all of your files on your hard drive. Which reminds me . . .

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: I had difficulty accessing my site one day a couple of weeks ago. Was there a problem?
A: Sorry about that! Tripod did experience a period of downtime on Saturday, November 11th. The downtime was related to a bug we discovered during site maintenance. While we never like it when the site is unavailable, the good news is that no data was lost and our successful bug squashing will help to increase the site's future stability.
