THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru

It's a tale of two buildings. Tripod resides in one high-rise; Lycos in another, nestled in the valley below. To get to corporate HQ on foot, we must hurl ourselves down a steep, unforgiving hill. This is fun during the summer. In the winter it's like competing in the luge event. Without the luge. Happily, our tuck and roll days are history. We have a rope! That's right, some kind soul has strung a rope from our windblown summit down to Lycos base camp. It's not any easier, but watching intrepid types cling to the lifeline is surefire entertainment. Until today. I need to pick up a dental form. Where's my Sherpa?

If you're stuck on a mountain and need loot for boots and crampons, you have options: Suffer the slings and arrows of manual labor, or let your site do all the work. With the Lycos Traffic Affiliate Program, you get paid EVERY time someone clicks one of the Lycos Network Content Boxes you add to your site. It's that simple. You get free content to keep folks coming back for more and cash with every click. I'd call it win-win, but then I'd have to get a job in marketing and start wearing polo shirts.

Sure, amazing graphics and animation can make a site more popular. But if the pages take forever to load, no one will stick around long enough to see your visual wonderment. Sound familiar? If your site is stuck in slo-mo, you need to get optimized. Webmonkey has the fast-acting solution.

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: My site uses frames. How can I avoid getting multiple pop-up ads?

A: Most browsers will display only one pop-up ad per frameset. If you are seeing multiple pop-up ads on a page using frames in your directory, this is most likely a browser issue. Upgrading to the latest version of your browser can eliminate the problem, though it may persist if you are using the AOL browser. The AOL browser interprets JavaScript in a slightly nonstandard manner, and there is nothing that we at Tripod can do about that problem. We apologize for the inconvenience.
