We live in New England. The winters last, roughly, forever. To combat
cabin fever we see movies. Lots of movies. So now that Oscar season is
here, we're even more opinionated than usual. In fact, we think "The
Academy" should let us pick the top flicks. For instance, if Lisa was
left alone with the ballot box, big budget blunt objects like Gladiator
would lose to more sophisticated fare such as Pollack with (cue applause)
Mr. Ed Harris. If Todd ruled Tinsel Town, The Skulls would get the red
carpet treatment. If only because it starred "Pacey" from Dawson's Creek.
You know, maybe it's better they don't ask us.
It's fun to second-guess Hollywood. But the ultimate revenge is to make
your own movie magic. These days there's no need to drop a fortune on
temperamental talent, catering and key grips. All it takes is a video
camera and your free Tripod site to post the visionary results. Just
