THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru

Having your own site is a two-part process. First there's the buzz of building. You get an idea, whip up content, and make the pages spin like a top. Then you put out a welcome mat. But the next time you check, the hit counter is stuck in single digits and crickets can be heard off in the distance. Sound familiar? If so, you're ready for part two: Promotion! Now that you have a cool site, you need to get creative to attract visitors. This used to mean dropping a bundle on banners and blimps. Now all you need is a PC microphone. . .

Introducing Lycos Talk Radio, where you get to be the host of your own online radio show! Just imagine. You can talk about your site. You can take callers and control the flow just like on the radio. The show is free and getting the word out is extra easy. Lycos gives you a Talk Jockey page to promote your show and your site. And with the Lycos Talk Radio Console, you can direct listeners to your site (or other fave Web addresses) during the show by simply typing the URL. Want to check out a Tripod Talk Jockey? Ready for your own fans? Visit Lycos Talk Radio!

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: What is remote loading?

A: Remote loading occurs when files are stored on one site for access on another server. Storing image files on a Tripod page for use on a non-Tripod page is an example of remote loading. Tripod does not allow the embedding of MIDIs, WAVs, MPEGs, and similar files from such remote sources as e-mail and external auction sites. You may still freely embed most files that are part of your Tripod pages.
