THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru

When I was a kid, my room was covered in posters. I had rock posters. I had Escher prints. I had a Batman banner that was so big it took a dozen tacks to hold it up. To add to the already groovy ambiance, I secretly bought a big red spotlight bulb. But my new bulb wouldn't fit the fixture! I figured there must be something stuck in the socket. So I took my finger and -- BZZZZ! When I came to, vibrating slightly with smoke rising from my eyebrows, my Mom was there. She didn't yell. She didn't lecture. She laughed. Her son was clearly a genius.

Some holidays are all smoke and marketing. Others are worth observing. Mother's Day is one of those. It's your one big shot to make up for all the weird choices you've made. Whether it's playing with electricity, piercing all available body parts, or driving the family minivan into the lake. With Tripod on your side, you're options are endless. You can compose a poem. You can create an online greeting card. And if all else fails, there's always chocolate. Or, if you're like me, you'll immediately do all three and hope for the best.

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: How do I place a counter on my page?

A: The code for a basic Tripod counter is as follows:

<IMG SRC="/bin/counter/page_name.html">
If the file name of your page is "index.html," the counter code will look like this:
<IMG SRC="/bin/counter/index.html">

This code will produce the actual counter. You can place your own text around it if you wish. The above HTML code will work on any Tripod page. Currently, you cannot change (by manually increasing or resetting) the number on your counter. You can, however, change the color of your counter. The additional code looks like this: ?RRGGBB. Add it to the end of the line of code, like this:

<IMG SRC="/bin/counter/index.html?000000">

The six digits following the question mark are a standard hexadecimal color code. In the line above, a black counter would be created, since the color black corresponds with a hexadecimal code of "000000."
