THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru

7125? 7492? If forgetting your phone number is a sign you had a successful vacation, mark mine a winner. On paper it was a tour of the Maine coastline. In practice, it was a blur of microbrews, breakfast burritos, and hiking. True, we didn't spot the pesky bear getting ink in the local paper. But nearly getting chased off a cliff by an enraged grouse has to count for something. Ah, nature. You must respect it. And sometimes you must run in the opposite direction.

Ready to commune with nature? Start with tips from the Backpack Traveler. Or if my tale of being terrorized by a ground-dwelling bird sounds enticing, visit the Downeast Coastal Chamber of Commerce. Just remember, removing bug spray from your pack to make room for more muffins is NOT a good idea.

How do you direct traffic to your site? You can hand out pamphlets at the airport. Try your luck at skywriting. Maybe even hijack a passing blimp. Or you could just get listed for free on all major search sites. Webmonkey knows what it takes to get noticed.
