THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru
Let's say you have a craving for a hot dog. (Play along.) Maybe a real,
"who knows what the heck is in there" dog. Maybe a tofu simulation.
But when you pick up a package of the most-wanted wieners, it reads
"best before June 3rd, 1997." What do you do? Correct. You order Chinese
take-out. The Web is the same way. You can build a tasty site, but if
it never changes, your customers will seek out fresher sustenance.
Avoiding the "4-year-old foodstuff" syndrome is not impossible. Keep the
number of pages manageable and pledge to make changes, no matter how
small, on a regular basis. For a few "hands-off" ideas, check with our
friends at HTML Gear. With Text Gear, your site can have an ever-changing
look courtesy of rotating text. And with their famous Guest Gear,
visitors can chip in with comments of their own. Pretty crafty.

Now that the price of video cameras has entered the realm of the
reasonable, adding "filmmaker" to your business card is easier than
ever. But one stumbling block remains: distribution. If you want your
epic to find an audience outside your living room, you'll need a few
tips. Webmonkey has the score on getting seen.

Meet Todd Newton, co-host of Hot Ticket, the movie review show with a
twist. Will Harry Potter live up to the hype? What about the Lord of
the Rings? Debating the merits of the latest Hollywood "blockbusters"
can be as much fun as actually watching them . . . sometimes more!
Movie lovers will want to grab a front row seat for this special chat.
