THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Guru

Back in the day of the steam-powered PC, disk space came in cute little kilobytes. Drawings on cave walls suggest early hard drives were limited to 256 KB of storage. Then came the dawn of the multi-megabyte drive and joy returned to the village. "We'll NEVER use ALL that space!," our ancestors hooted. A week later it was all gone and everyone went back to floppy farming. Now bytes are giga-sized and we (finally) recognize that when it comes to space, too much is never enough. Which is why we invented Web Folders. Thanks to the miracle of the WF, Tripod Plus members can use their directories for safe, reliable file storage, from slender Word docs to the chunkiest of graphic and .wav files. Best of all, with the files finally off your hard drive, you can access them anytime, anywhere. Yes, we've seen the future of file storage. It's Web Folders. Now if we can just straighten out that moving sidewalk thing, we'll be all set.

The new Flash is here. It's called Flash MX. I guess we should just be happy that they didn't call it Flash X-treme! Is it worth the full price of admission? We've heard rumors of easier to use controls, refined frame editing, and improved video handling. But we'll leave the real review to those playful primates at Webmonkey.

Take full advantage of what the Internet has to offer!

We all need advice from time to time. But where to go? Friends, even true friends, just tell you what you want to hear. So what's left? Palm readers and 1-800-swindles. Not to worry. We know someone who has the BEST advice ... for free! Only she's a little cranky. Can you take the heat? Don't wimp out. Ask Crabby and find out!

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: How do I cut and paste code onto my pages?

There are several ways. Tripod's FreeForm editor lets you include straight HTML code without using templates. If you've made a page using FreeForm, you can cut and paste code directly into the text box provided. If you created the page with Site Builder, you'll have to convert your page to a FreeForm document before you can add any HTML. Converting a file to a FreeForm can be done in the FileManager, using the "Edit with" option in the "Edit" pull-down menu. However, once a file is converted to FreeForm it cannot be reverted and accessed via Site Builder.
