This is a special week at Tripod, thanks to Barak the Potluck King. He's organized another magnificent repast that promises to be full of home-cooked goodness. According to the sign-up, Chris Young is bringing in Astronaut Pie (fake Tang-flavored cheesecake), Alyssa has promised to whip up some ice-cream cone cupcakes (I'm not sure what that's all about, but we'll see), and Neil, Mr. Abuse himself, is providing a massive and tasty selection of Pop-Tarts™, as well as a toaster. It's shaping up to be a scrumptious all-day snacking session. I still haven't decided what to bring. It'll probably be something that'll make me and my vegetarian friends happy.
I almost forgot about the cats. No, no, we're not eating them at Friday's potluck. They've just been on my mind lately. Could be because I recently acquired one. When Gayle O'Brien, our lovely former staff writer, headed for the UK, I volunteered to take care of her cat until she returned. His name is Henry, and he's a gray tabby. I call him Henri, my French chat. I think he likes it. You must understand that I've never had a cat before. I come from a long line of anticat meanies. I'm changing though, and am warming up to those independent creatures. Henri purrs when I pet him, and that makes me happy. I also felt like I needed a feline friend to fit in here! I think almost every Tripodian has one. Richard's cat is named Rockwell; he's a shy, orange tabby. Trixie the Wonder Cat lives with Mags, and Katy has two cats — Mingus and Nessa. I guess I'm cool now.
