Frequently Asked Questions about the Trellix Site Builder to Webon Migration

Migrating from Trellix Site Builder to Webon is a completely optional process that is provided to our users as a free service. Site Builder is an older tool that is no longer being developed. Webon is built in-house by us here at Tripod and is being upgraded with improvements and new features on a regular basis.

Q&A

Q: Does Webon do all the same things that Trellix does?
A:Webon lets you switch designs easily and as often as you like, it allows upload of images, video, audio, and a variety of document types...it has a table/grid tool, etc. We have recreated the functions of all of the commonly used WebGems. Many of the interfaces have been specifically designed to be familiar to users of Site Builder.

Q: Will all of the Trellix design templates be available in Webon?
A: We have picked a number of the most popular Trellix designs to rebuild as Webon templates but we have not been recreated all of them. We're sure you will find that the existing Webon design templates are more professional than the Trellix templates. You should expect your site to look attractive and modern once you have migrated.

Q: Tell me more about this migration process...how will it work?
A: First of all... you never lose the option to try it first and see how your site converts before making a final decision to go forward with Webon. The migration is completely open-ended and not forced.

  • 1. You will click a "Migrate" link to start the process.
  • 2. You will then be presented with a choice of templates.
  • 3. After you choose a template, you will be redirected back to the Tripod control panel while the Migration Process occurs in the background. When it is complete it will show up in the Webon Area of the Control Panel (just below the Trellix Area) and an "Edit" link will appear next to it. You can then click "Edit" and go into the Webon editor tool where you can make any adjustments you like and examine all the features.
  • 4. When you are happy with the conversion all you have to do to finalize is publish your site with Webon...which is as easy as a single click of the Publish button.
  • 5. If you are unhappy you can click "Revert" to move your site back to Trellix. If you are a paying member you can continue to use Trellix. If you are a free member you can upgrade to any level of paid account and keep using Trellix.

Q: Will my Tripod URL change when I migrate?
A: No, there is no need for it to change. Trellix publishes to a specific directory under your account. Webon works exactly the same. You can continue to use the same URL you've been using all along.
