The Showtime "Odyssey 5 - Power of 5" Sweepstakes is intended for play in the United States only and shall be conducted and governed in accordance with United States law.
Eligibility: Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, 21 years of age or older at time of entry. Employees of Showtime Networks Inc. ("Sponsor"), Lycos, Inc. ("Lycos"), their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, Project Support Team, Inc. ("PST") and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of this Sweepstakes and the immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of such employees, are not eligible to enter or win. Void where prohibited by law.
How to Participate: Visit www.lycos.com between 12:00:00 Noon Eastern Time ("ET") on 5/23/02 and 11:59:59 AM ET on 7/8/02 ("promotion period") and complete and submit the official online entry form according to the instructions provided, including your answers to the three multiple choice trivia questions asked about Odyssey 5. Note: The Odyssey 5 trivia questions do not have to be answered for you to be eligible to win a prize and, if they are answered, the answers do not have to be correct for you to be eligible to win a prize. Or, to enter by mail, handprint your name, complete address, age, daytime phone number and email address (if any) on a 3" x 5" paper. Sponsor would appreciate your answers to the following questions: (1) Are you currently a Showtime subscriber?; (2) Are you a current cable customer?; and (3) Are you a current satellite customer? Mail your entry to: Showtime "Odyssey 5 - Power of 5: Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 13046, Bridgeport, CT 06673-3046. Limit one mailed entry per 1ST Class stamped envelope. All online entries must be received by 11:59:59 AM ET on 7/8/02 and all mailed entries must be postmarked by 7/8/02 and received by 7/15/02. Limit one online entry per e-mail address for the duration of the promotion period. Additional online entries received from one e-mail address thereafter will be void. The use of automated devices (or any other devices intended to automate any aspect of entry) to enter this Sweepstakes is prohibited. If Sponsor, in its sole discretion, determines that an entrant has used an automated device or similar to enter or has otherwise acted in violation of the rules or in a manner which impacts the integrity of this Sweepstakes, all entries from that entrant will be void. Downloaded, mechanically or otherwise reproduced entries will not be accepted. Sponsor and Lycos are not responsible for lost, late, damaged, misdirected, illegible postage-due, incomplete, incorrect or unintelligible entries or mail or for electronic, telephonic, human or computer failures, problems or errors, interruptions in service due to system upgrades, repairs, modifications or other causes, failures or malfunctions of connections, phones, phone lines or telephone systems, traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, technical or mechanical malfunctions, or other malfunctions, problems or errors, whether caused by equipment, programming, human error or otherwise, or any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer hardware or software relating to or resulting from participation in this Sweepstakes or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes or otherwise. CAUTION: Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be
made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and/or other remedies from any such person(s) responsible for the attempt to the fullest extent permitted by law. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.
Judging: Winners will be selected by PST, an independent judging organization, in a random drawing on or about 7/24/02 from among all eligible entries received. Decisions of the judges will be final and binding in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received. Winners will be notified by telephone, email and/or mail. In the event of a dispute about the identity of an online entrant selected as a potential winner based on email address submitted, entry will be deemed to have been made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted in the entry (subject to verification of eligibility) as determined by Sponsor.
Prizes: (1) Grand Prize: A 5 day/4 night trip for winner and 4 guests to view a Space Shuttle launch from a viewing area within Kennedy Space Center. Prize consists of round trip coach air transportation from major U.S. airport nearest winner's residence, standard hotel accommodations (2-double occupancy rooms & 1- single occupancy room), admission to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and 5 days' car rental. Plus, winner and guests will each receive a FlexTicket which provides 5 consecutive days of unlimited admissions to 5 Orlando, FL area theme parks. Approximate Retail Value ("ARV") of complete prize $11,000. (5) Runner-up Prizes: A Meade LX200GPS Telescope. ARV $2,600 each. Total Approximate Retail Value of all prizes=$24,000. Certain travel restrictions may apply to Grand Prize trip which must be taken on a date between August 1, 2002 and April 30, 2003, the exact date of which will be specified by Sponsor in its sole discretion and for which the winner will be given a minimum of three weeks advance notice. If winner does not agree to travel on the specified date, prize will be forfeited in its entirety and awarded to an alternate winner. Car rental portion of Grand Prize is subject to restrictions imposed by car rental company. If winner is not eligible for car rental (for example, he/she does not have a credit card or does not meet the age requirement designated by car rental company), $250 will be awarded to winner in lieu of car rental. Sponsor, Lycos and Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex do not guarantee that the space shuttle launch scheduled to take place during Grand Prize trip will actually take place on the scheduled date or time. In the event the planned space shuttle launch is postponed or canceled, winner will receive the complete prize minus the viewing of the launch. Grand Prize winner and his/her traveling companions also agree to comply with all Kennedy Space Center rules and regulations relating to attendance at the shuttle launch viewing and/or other activities and, in accordance therewith, agree not to act in a disruptive manner, or with any intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person at such event. As a condition to being granted admission to view the space shuttle launch, the Kennedy Space Center and/or its designated agents, will conduct background clearances on the potential Grand Prize winner and his or her guests, the results of which must be deemed acceptable by Sponsor and the Kennedy Space Center and its regulatory agencies, before admission to view the shuttle launch will be granted. If the winner's and/or any guests' clearance is not deemed acceptable, the winner will receive the prize minus attendance to view the shuttle launch.
Miscellaneous: No transfer, assignment, cash redemption or substitution of any prize (or portion thereof) except by Sponsor due to prize unavailability, and then, except as provided above, with respect to viewing of space shuttle launch, for a prize of equal or greater value. Federal, state and local taxes and all other expenses not specified herein, are the sole responsibility of the individual winners. Grand Prize winner and guests will be responsible for obtaining and providing documents required for travel and visiting Kennedy Space Center (including photo ID and any other required documentation). Grand Prize winner will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release and (where legal) Publicity Release, plus any documents or information required for the background check, for security clearance, or as requested by the Kennedy Space Center, within 10 days of issuance of notification. Grand Prize winner's traveling companions must be 21 or older unless a member of winner's immediate family who is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Travel companions (or parent/legal guardian of travel companions who are minors) will be required to sign and return a Liability Release and (where legal) a Publicity Release, and any documents required by the Kennedy Space Center, prior to the issuance of travel documents. If any prize notification letter or prize is returned as undeliverable, winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected. Non-compliance with any of the above requirements may result in disqualification and awarding of prize to an alternate winner at Sponsor's sole discretion. Sponsor and Lycos reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend the online portion of this Sweepstakes should virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor or Lycos corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the Sweepstakes and, in any such event, to void suspect entries and at its discretion select winners from among all eligible mail-in entries received for duration of the Sweepstakes and all eligible non-suspect online entries received prior to event requiring such cancellation, termination or suspension. By entering, participants agree to these Official Rules and further agree that: 1) If entrant is a winner, Sponsor, Lycos, their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies shall have the right, (unless prohibited by law) to use their name, city and state of residence, photograph and/or likeness for advertising and/or trade and/or any other purpose in any media now or hereafter known without further compensation, permission or notification and 2) Sponsor, Lycos, their respective parent companies,
subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies parties, Project Support Team, Inc., and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents shall have no liability and will be held harmless for any liability, loss, injury or damage to participant or any other person or entity, including personal injury, or death to winner or any other person or damage to personal or real property due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize or any travel or prize activities related thereto or participation in this Sweepstakes.
